On the morning of 16 October 2025, The Cambodian Labour Confederation (CLC) participated in the 16 Day Campaign (1–16 October) for Global Environmental Action, focusing on the following key messages:
📣 “Strengthening the empowerment of rural women and young farmers for resilient food systems.”
📣 “Promoting the use of local products together to foster rural economic growth.”
📣 “Strong social protection to safeguard the health of workers and farmers and to improve food productivity.”
This 16 day campaign was established with three main objectives:
1. Providing a platform to raise food system issues
The campaign aims to provide opportunities for rural women, young farmers, indigenous peoples, farmers, communities, networks, and associations to raise concerns related to food systems, including land issues, natural resources, environmental justice, climate change, social protection, and various concerns and needs within the policy sector, in order to respond to their livelihoods in target areas.
2. Strengthening cooperation and responding to community needs
The second objective is to enhance cooperation among the Royal Government, relevant ministries, local authorities, and duty bearers to take into account the needs and concerns of communities related to gender responsiveness, the right to food, the use of natural resources, traditional livelihoods, and social protection systems. This is directed toward promoting the use of local products within food systems to empower rural women and young farmers in an inclusive manner.
3. Raising awareness and preventing the harmful impacts of toxic substances
Another objective is to raise awareness of policies and regulations and to strengthen mechanisms to prevent the harmful impacts of the use of toxic pesticides and chemical fertilizers that pose risks to public health within food systems.
The 16-day campaign was jointly organized by the Cambodian Labour Confederation (CLC), the CCFC Association, and the Banteay Srei Community (BS).
The Cambodian Labor Union was established on April 9, 2006 and registered at No KB / VK on December 31, 2008 at the Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training, a democratic and independent federation. Currently, CLC has 124023 members from 10 member federations, associations and unions ...
