Achievement of CLC gender committee in 2020

The Gender Committee of the Cambodian Labor Union was established on September 24, 2008 and has been in operation for 12 years. It has the following activities:

  • Celebrates International Women’s Day (March 8)
  • Participate in activities on May 1 and December 10
  • Meeting every 3 months
  • Open training to women leaders and activists
  • Training of Trainers (TOT)
  • Meeting to strengthen and empower women to become leaders
  • Provide counseling services to help resolve disputes and file complaints when women have problems
  • Write case studies on women’s issues
  • Compile a network of women in the garment sector
  • Establish a network of gender committees in three provinces: Siem Reap, Sihanoukville and Svay Rieng
  • Radio programs
  • Produce video to prevent and prevent Kovid-19
  • In collaboration with more than a dozen trade unions, the Women’s Union Network (WUN) and NGO-CEDAW campaigned for the government to ratify Convention 183 on maternity leave, Convention 189 on domestic workers and C190 on Eliminating violence in the world of work.
  • Submit a petition to the National Assembly, the Office of the Council of Ministers and the Ministry of Women’s Affairs requesting the Government to ratify Convention 183, 189 and C190.

Challenges:

Suggestions:

  • Let the government provide more employment opportunities for women
