On December 27, 2023; Mr. Ath Thorn, CLC president, joined the Networking meeting of ILO’s Ship to Shore Rights South East Asia and Fishing and Seafood Processing at the ILO office in Cambodia.
This meeting aims to;
1. Share contextual developments and updates on activities related to women and men migrant workers in the fishing and seafood processing sectors.
2. Expand practical cooperation among CSOs, government, employer organizations, and Worker Organizations on providing information and assistance to migrant workers in the fishing and seafood processing sectors.
3. Identify areas for collective action on enhancing safe migration and decent work for migrant workers in the fishing and seafood processing sectors, such as developing a sector-specific MOU, strengthening complaint mechanisms, developing IEC materials, and ratifying the Work in Fishing Convention, 2007 (No. 188) and the 2014 Protocol to the Forced Labour Convention (No. 29).
The representatives of MoLVT, EU, IOM, ILO, CLC, LSCW, ADHOC, ACRA, NACC, WI, and CENTRAL joined this network meeting.
