Training workshop on the Questionnaires and KoBoToolbox for Data collector

On February 23, 2024; Mr. Ath Thorn, CLC president and Vice-President and BoD president of C.CAWDU, joined and opened the remarks in the Training Workshop on “KoboToolbox for Data Collector and Questionnaire” for the 32 focal people, which are the C.CAWDU’s local trade union in 27 different, at Community Legal Education Center (CLEC) in Khan Dangkor, Phnom Penh city.

The main purpose of this training workshop is to guide the participants more on the questionnaire and utilize KoBotoolbox to collect data on the living cost for workers in garment, textile, footwear, travel goods, and bag products.

During his open remarks, Thorn said that CLC plays an important role in being a representative for workers in garment, textile, footwear, travel goods, and bag products in negotiations on Minimum Wages and other related issues.

He added that the synergy of C.CAWDU’s leaders, local TU, and members is the body’s potential and notable point. Additionally, he noted that the body’s independence is another crucial element for creating the space to negotiate the MW, Working Contract, Decent Work, Social Protection, and addressing the labour dispute.

However, the inequality between inflation rises and MW is a root leading the employee to face many difficulties in their livelihood, Thorn added.
He added that this training workshop is essential for understanding the difficulties of the employee and MW negotiation.

“Consequently, this training workshop for focal people is important beyond the data collection of the cost of living of the employees and is also the rational evidence for MW negotiation,” he said.

This training was co-organized by CLC and C.CAWDU with the support of CNV Internationaal. 32 participants are from the staff of CLC and C.CAWDU and local TU leaders, 27 factories, of C.CAWDU.
