On September 25, 2023: Mr. Ath Thorn, the CLC president, joined and opened the remark at the ASIA Workshop on S Climate Justice & Adaptive Social Protection at Hotel Somadevi Angkor Resort & Spa, Siem Reap City.
Thorn warmly welcomed the participants from different countries; Belgium, Belgium, Australia, Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, Philippines, Nepal, and other NGO partners in Cambodia, with a total of around 7០ participants.
Besides this, he said that climate change is a crucial problem that all the countries in the world, including Cambodia, face with it. There are a few factors that lead to climate change in Cambodia such as deforestation, water contamination from some industrial factories, and other factors, he added.
Related to Social Protection, Thorn said that it is better now in Cambodia because three of the four schemes of SP have been implemented such as work injury, health insurance, and pension for private sector employees.
