The project on youth empowerment through the promotion of decent work is one of several projects of the Cambodian Labor Union. The main purpose of this project is to provide training, capacity building, skills and experience to young people to get decent job opportunities, reasonable wages and to build an effective network for young people to develop themselves now and in the future to become a good resource. In the field of labor and actively contribute to the understanding of the union movement and promote labor rights, working conditions, freedom of association and protection of benefits for workers in all sectors in the field of labor.
The Cambodian Labor Confederation (CLC) believes that the growth of the youth is increasing every year and that the youth is an important resource that is full of energy, wisdom and physical energy that does not dry up, and the continuous development of Young people to become good leaders both now and in the future in the private sector, social affairs, economics, culture, politics, trade, science and communication, international affairs and so on. Therefore, the training of knowledge, skills, foreign languages, technology, experience and life skills for young people is the most necessary factor that all institutions and relevant sectors must do to build young people in a society full of potential and energy, both nationally and internationally. In general, in order to develop youth resources effectively and efficiently, there must be clear policies for youth development at the international, national and institutional levels, both in the public, private and political sectors. In addition, it is necessary to provide a wide range of opportunities for young people to participate in providing opinions, participating in decision-making, participating in implementation of decisions, participating in monitoring and evaluating work results, and participating in providing feedback on national and sub-national development. In addition, young people must be given the opportunity without discrimination, transparency and equality to participate in national, regional and international meetings or events organized by the Royal Government and the international community.
In such important events, the youth can participate as a organizing committee to learn and gain experience from the process of organizing the program and learn about the content, meaning, as well as the procedure or mode of the meeting. Most of his youth received vocational education and training, both formal and informal, developed and provided by the government, organizations, associations, unions, private companies and other development partners. However, young people still lack centers for internships, theoretical practice and work experience. Therefore, the Royal Government should ensure that there is a training center for young people, and organizations, associations, unions, companies and partners provide opportunities for young people to participate in internships and volunteer work in their institutions more and provide orientation guidance for young people.
