Mr. Ath Thorn joint negotiation of National Council on Minimum Wage (NCMW) consists of total 51 representatives from the 3 sided- NCMW: 17 from employer, government’s 17, and another 17 representatives from trade union participated a confidential vote for only one minimum wage figure out of the 3 different figures of which 188 US$ proposed by employer gained 0 supporter, government’s 192 US$ received 45 supporters while 6 voted for union figure of 204 US$. So, the government figure of 192 US$ got a majority vote.
As result, 192 US$ and additional 2 US$, which is equivalent to 194 US$ per month determined as a nationwide minimum wage for workers in garment, footwear, and textile for 2022.
In accordance with the Labour Law, Minister of Ministry of labour and Vocational Training is entitled to issue a Prakas (Ministerial order) on the determination of minimum wage on the basic of meeting spirit convened by the Labour Advisory Committee (LAC). Due to additional contribution of 2 US$ provided by the government of Cambodia, the 2022’s minimum wage for workers in garments sector is 194 US$
