Social Protection Week Campaign under the theme: “Women Workers and Farmers in the Agro-Food Sector Need Essential Social Protection”

On February 18, 2025, the leadership and members of the Cambodian Labour Confederation (CLC) launched a Social Protection Week Campaign under the theme: “Women Workers and Farmers in the Agro-Food Sector Need Essential Social Protection”.

This campaign aims to contribute to amplifying the voices of women workers and farmers in the agro-food sector, addressing systemic inequalities, and advocating for meaningful changes within Cambodia’s social protection framework.

✍️ The objectives of this campaign are:

✅ Raise awareness:
Increase understanding of the challenges women workers and farmers face in accessing social protection in the agro-food sector among policymakers, stakeholders, and the public.

✅ Empower target groups:
Encourage women workers and farmers to access existing social protection mechanisms and claim their rights.

✅ Advocate for policy reform:
Mobilize public and institutional support for a gender-responsive and inclusive social protection system.

✅ Promote collaboration:
Strengthen partnerships among civil society organizations, local authorities, and international stakeholders to address gaps in social protection.

Through this initiative, women farmers and workers, along with organizations such as the Cambodian Labour Confederation (CLC), Cambodian Agricultural Workers Federation (CAWF), Cambodian Farmers Community Federation (CCFC), and Banteay Srei Organization (BS), are creating a platform to amplify rural women’s and young farmers’ voices. They are submitting their concerns to the National Social Protection Council, the Royal Government, and relevant institutions to collectively address systemic inequalities and advocate for inclusive and responsive social protection policies in Cambodia.

The Cambodian Labor Union was established on April 9, 2006 and registered at No KB / VK on December 31, 2008 at the Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training, a democratic and independent federation. Currently, CLC has 124023 members from 10 member federations, associations and unions ...
