The ASIA Workshop on Safe & Healthy Working Environment; A Fundamental at Work
On September 22, 2023: Mr. Ath Thorn, the CLC president, joined and opened the remark at the ASIA Workshop on Safe & Healthy Working Environment; A Fundamental at Work at Hotel Somadevi Angkor Resort & Spa, Siem Reap City.
In this meeting, Thorn has warmly welcomed the participants from different countries; Belgium, Belgium, Australia, Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, Philippines, Nepal, and Cambodia.
In addition, he talked to the participants about the activities and missions of the Cambodian Labour Confederation (CLC) regarding the promotion of employee rights and freedom in many sectors such as garment, construction, agriculture, craft, and other sectors.
Thorn added that Occupational Safety and Health needs to take more action from relevant bodies.
He said, “framework of Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) is still not good enough.”
Besides this, he also mentioned the current situation and challenges of the independent confederation/union in terms of promoting the rights and freedom of Cambodian workers. Also, he talked about the process of Minimum Wage Negotiation for garment workers.
