The Press Release on the arrest of Mr. Morm Rithy

On the evening of May 7, 2024, around 6 PM, the police of the Administrative Post Police of Boeung Tum Pun 2 besieged the CLC office to arrest Mr. Morm Rithy, the president of the Cambodian Tourism and Services Workers Federation (CTSWF), in charge of “the incitement to commit a crime and to lose of faith in the court’s decision,” which is related to his Facebook live on the labour dispute between his local trade union and Jin Bei Casino on February 24, 2022. According to the attached arrest warrant, he will be sentenced to 1 year and 6 months in jail.

It should be noted that he was first arrested to listen to the arrest warrant at the Administrative Post Police of Boeung Tum Pun 2 and then sent to Prey Sar prison.
